Congratulations Rough Writers! Now available:
Designer, visual artist and Rough Writer, Ann Rauvola designed the anthology as a series cover. Its western motifs express the Ranch with the elegance of the literary art it contains. Congratulations to all Rough Writers who contributed to Vol. 1 and welcome new Rough Writers as we begin work on Vol. 2. Carrot Ranch has excellent artists and is grateful to all who are willing to share and collaborate within our collective craft of flash fiction.
Welcome to the Bunkhouse Bookstore where you can find books by the Rough Writers & Friends. Support real, working writers who toil as hard as any rancher to wrangle words and rope stories.
The “indie revolution” makes more book choices and authors available to readers. Independently publishing a book is not for the feint of heart or the writer looking for shortcuts. Many writers publish with small or regional presses. The smaller publishing houses often print books not found in traditional commercial publishing. Some writers pursue a hybrid path.
It’s an exciting time to be an author with different publishing choices. But it’s also a difficult career. Consider that people who sell a used book at a garage sale make more off that sale than the author did. The best way to support an author, is to leave an honest review on Goodreads or Amazon. Reviews equate to visibility in the distribution channels.
Have a favorite flash fiction author? Look for his or her book. Ask your local library to get a title or carry an author’s line. Thank you for supporting literary art!

Looks great
Still tweaking. Want it to be pleasant to look at and useful.
Yeah, looking good, maybe my balloons bit needs to be scaled down to fit with the other icons. Were you planning on including stories in anthologies (I thought I’d seen this yesterday) but might be a bit much to curate
Good observation. I think uniformity will be most pleasing to look at. I thought making debuts or features bigger, but perhaps not. This is like testing paint swatches on the wall. 🙂
Love the bookstore. Fantastic!
I always wanted a bookstore! Now if I can figure out how to sell coffee…
Oh WOW, I’m a headline act! Too COOOOL (*shows children; they guffaw*). Great idea though I feel a bit over praised as it happens.
You can now add, featured at the ranch to your accolades!
Isn’t that trade marked? Don’t I need a licence or something?!
Love this bookstore Charli, so exciting!!!
Looks great! I’ve been meaning to post a reply for quite some time now 🙂 How do I get my book added to the group?
Actually, I do have your book! It’s on your page and I can put it here, but things aren’t linked up properly. I’m exploring how to best set up the bookstore. At first I thought it would simply be a page with links. But adding the book covers makes for a long-scrolling page. But if I put the covers in a gallery then I can’t do the links. I looked at becoming an Amazon affiliate, but not everyone has books on Amazon. I met a couple who have a tech company in the area and they are quoting me on an app. So…I’m going to tackle this after LA and might start with the Amazon links. Funny how I think something is simple and it isn’t. 🙂
This Bookstore is awesome!
Just a few clicks away to read our RW’s work 🙂
Have shared it across in many forums as well.
Thanks Charli for doing the above.
Regards!
Thanks, Ruchira! My hope is to create a platform at Carrot Ranch that supports all the Rough Writers. I’d like to be able to have the gallery of books liked to where they are sold, and might need some sort of plug-in. The new enewsletter is meant to reach out to readers and bring them back to the writers here. But connecting with readers is not an easy task. I’m experimenting and learning! Glad to support your new book and your writing!
OK, this bookstore is AWESOME! (Incentive now to get mine moving.) The cover for the anthology is really beautiful. Can’t wait to have that on my shelf!
I’m glad you like it! The idea is that Carrot Ranch is a platform for the books by the Rough Writers. It offers variety, synergy and yet is a manageable size to maintain and for readers to peruse. If readers like a writer’s flash, they can check out the books! Keep moving forward on your book project!
